Thomson Reuters offers course in broadcasting news

Broadcast journalists can apply for this course in London.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is offering a training course that teaches creative approaches to producing TV news stories.

The program topics include research, writing for TV, camera work and editing. Lectures are supported by practical exercises and video examples. The class is run by senior Reuters television journalists.

Applicants chosen from developing countries or countries in political transition working for organizations with no training resources will have travel expenses, accommodation and living costs covered. Reuters will waive tuition fees for applicants from developing countries with only limited training resources available.

Candidates must have at least two years of professional experience, and be able to demonstrate career commitment.

Applicants must submit a professional biography, a statement describing any broadcast media experiences, and two recent examples of their published work. TV/Radio journalists can send their scripts along with a brief summary.

The deadline is March 14.
